Profile of Jennifer Paley
A recent graduate of Glasgow School of Art (2008) and an emerging talented artist, Jennifer was awarded the Royal Glasgow Institute Award for her degree show collection - "The Photo Album". She has recently completed a large wall mural for Box Bar in Glasgow along with commissions for record covers.
The Photo Album series is intriguing for the use of mixed media based on photo images and clippings that are juxtaposed and worked into her paintings, often to make a social statement. Friends and family, blurred out of context, take on an Everyman role - dropped into the turmoil of Southern USA segregation in Bar Scene or as a shy nervous honeymooner in Cover Hotel.
