Profile of Laetitia Guilbaud
Born in Challans, France, Laetitia graduated from University of Rennes with an Arts Degree specialising in digital art in 2001.
She has been living and working in Glasgow since 2006 exhibiting her unique paintings not just in Scotland but 'at home' in Nantes and Rennes and Barga, Italy.
Laetitia brings an earthy and sexy style to female figurative painting. Here is her own description.
My paintings and drawings are all about WOMEN.
I like to paint different types of ladies in an attractive and funky way. Pin-ups, fashionistas, burlesque girls, sexy widows, jealous girlfriends, celebrity portraits etc...
Whether good-time girls or celebrities, her subjects are a study in sexual power. Dressed in provocative clothes, their pose and disdain for convention serve to reinforce their independence. They are the recruiting sergeant for a monstrous regiment who know and use old-fashioned ways to upset the balance in a man's world. And they are downright sexy too.
