Profile of Sheila Maclean
Though she now lives and works in Edinburgh, artist Sheila Maclean produces evocative images influenced by the mountain and sea-loch setting of her home in Lochcarron, Wester Ross. She chooses subjects close to Nature that figure large in the life of Gaelic communities living on the edge.
Sheila works with a medium of stretched fine silk to which she applies gouache pigment in layers and adds subtle highlights from an overlay of oil pastels.
